A disturbing taste in music

I think it's disturbing enough that my most listened to artist is d4vd, a singer who recently has been involved in a case of being in a romantic relationship with a 14 year old girl, and killed and dismembered her, and left said dismembered body in the frunk of his Tesla. It's crazy that even 5 months later, he hasn't even been arrested, everything's quieting down but it's a disturbing case to look at.

Naturally, everyone has boycotted him and stopped promoting his music, and then there's me heeehhh.

Yeah I still very much love his music, his album WITHERED is a repeat for me. There's lots of ties to the girl Celeste in all of his music, he includes a lot of gore in his themes, and stalker like stuff (is this why I relate?)

I realize that the reason people connect with music so much is because you can sing the things you can't say. Think about the recurring theme of "I'm with this new girl but when I'm kissing her I think about you", that's a crazy statement to say irl, because you really shouldn't be doing that. Except it's a real feeling so when it's put into song and it's aloud, people resonate with it. You can sing about killing your ex and it's a bop, you can be Kendrick Lamar talking about killing your enemies and it's cool. In d4vd's case, he sings about being in love with a 14 year old girl when he's 20, and how he wants to hurt her. His No 1. bop is "Romantic homicide". Umm??

And yeah, even I resonate with this song. Of course everyone is all on it now saying that the song is messed up, but were they saying that before he killed a girl? Everyone was singing the same lyrics until it became real. "In the back of my mind, I kill you, and I didn't even regret, I can't believe that I said it".

SZA's "I just killed my ex, not the best idea, killed his girlfriend next, how'd I get here?"

I still listen to WITHERED because it's music with actual meaning. He is singing the things he can't say, and I resonate with that. Partially because I too was the 15 year old falling with a 20 year old heeeh. I think once I get over this phase I'll not be into his music as much. But "One More Dance" is heavenly, and "Afterlife" is ethereal, and "Atomic Land" is such a trance.
